First patient recruited into hydra p

On the 9th April 2016, the first patient was randomised into the HYDRA-P Trial. HYDRA-P in funded by an Academy of Medical Science Starter Grant, and the Chief Investigator is Athanasios (Thanos) Saratzis. HYDRA-P randomises patients into one of two arms, to either receive standard hydration before EVAR, or standard hydration plus bolus bicarbonate.

The first patient was randomised at Leicester Royal Infirmary (PI: Prof Matthew Bown), and we hope that this will be the first on many patients to be recruited by Leicester. We are currently setting up the second site, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) and hope to open them to recruitment by the end of May.
