Neelam Hassanali

Clinical Research Coordinator

I joined the Surgical Intervention Trials Unit (SITU) in June 2016 as Clinical Research Coordinator. My role is to provide comprehensive and efficient support in the day to day running of the unit. I assist both the SITU Trials Manager and Development Lead with new and existing trials that are run through SITU, including being responsible for pilot studies that are accepted onto the SITU portfolio. I’m involved in arranging and coordinating internal/external meetings and organising events for the department.

Before joining SITU, I completed my DPhil (PhD) in Medical Sciences at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism (OCDEM). My research focused on investigating the role of genetic variation in type 2 diabetes predisposition and used a combination of approaches to understand how common and rare variants influence disease susceptibility.
